Schnitten (John Swailes' grandmother's recipe she got from Mrs. Stettler in Iowa)  He gave me this recipe 1/19/06

1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups butter
3 eggs
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 pound chopped figs
1/2 pound chopped dates
1 cup chopped nuts.

Cream together white sugar, brown sugar, and butter. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well.

Sift together flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Mix into sugar mixture. Stir in figs, dates, and nuts.

Mold in balls or pan - chill or refrigerate overnight or freeze. Slice in 1/2-inch. Bake on greased sheet at 375 degrees or 400. (doesn't say how long to bake).
