Baked Macaroni and Cheese

2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)

4 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 1/2 cups milk

1 1/2 cups grated Cheddar cheese (I've also used Colby-Jack successfully)

3 pieces of toast, buttered, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

sprinkle of paprika

Cook macaroni according to package directions and drain.  Make sauce by melting butter in sauce pan.  Whisk in flour and salt.  Add milk, and cook until thick, stirring often.  Add cheese and continue cooking until it melts.  Combine sauce with macaroni in 9x9-inch baking dish.  Top with toasted and buttered bread cubes.  Sprinkle with paprika.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, or until bubbly.
